FUNDING THE PLAN
Boats & equipment
Years of collecting boats and equipment have given ESA the fleet to begin the next stage. Our immediate priority is the staff to put that equipment to work. Further equipment investment is planned from 2028.
A fleet that lets us start now
With the support of our community, we have built up boats, sails and watersports equipment over the years, including 32 Optimists and our E-Class sloop, Sugar Loaf. That foundation allows us to start programmes and share resources between Savannah Sound, North and South Eleuthera (at CEIS).
We do not need an immediate equipment-buying campaign to begin. We need trained coaches and a dependable team to use what we already have, care for it and bring more children onto the water.
What future equipment funding will support
- Optimists: repairs and replacements as needed to support interschool sailing with the fleet we have.
- 420s: the planned six-boat fleet by 2029, shared between the three centres for double-handed sailing and interschool competition.
- Sloop sailing: development beyond our existing E-Class Sugar Loaf, with further E-Class capacity and a longer-term C-Class ambition for 2030.

Equipment investment from 2028
We plan to invest in equipment from 2028 as participation and programme needs become clearer. That investment will support fleet development, replacement equipment and the progression from Optimists to 420s and sloop sailing.
For now, looking after the equipment we have is part of day-to-day operations. Funding people first allows years of equipment support to become more lessons, more local jobs and more opportunities for children.
