FUNDING THE PLAN · PEOPLE & STAFFING

Ensure long-term success by training local coaches

ESA’s long-term success depends on local people having the skills and opportunities to lead. Training and employing Bahamian coaches helps knowledge stay in the community and gives sailing programmes the continuity to grow.

Fund local coach training

We need support for participant stipends, instructor certification, powerboat and safety training, and course delivery. The annual plan is to train six participants and certify two instructors.

A SECOND EXPERT COACH · MARCH–AUGUST 2027

A second expert coach to support growth

Alongside our existing coaching leadership, we need a second expert coach for six months. This added capacity will help us train local instructors while continuing to deliver programmes for children and develop the next stage of ESA.

The coach will lead the instructor course and mentor the local team, serve as lead coach for summer camps, and help start operations in North Eleuthera. Working alongside an experienced coach gives trainees practical teaching experience and continued guidance as they take on more responsibility.

Supporting this role is an investment in the local team’s long-term capability. We want the coach’s knowledge to remain in Eleuthera through the people they train.

Administrative help that keeps us moving

A growing programme needs dependable administrative support. We need help coordinating schools and families, organising transport and volunteers, keeping participant records and permissions in order, and managing accounts and supporter reporting.

This support gives coaches more time to teach and helps ESA deliver reliable programmes as we reach more children.

Visiting volunteers who strengthen the team

Visiting volunteers bring energy, experience and extra hands to ESA. Alongside our coaches, they can help with lessons and camps, equipment preparation, events and practical maintenance.

We want their time here to strengthen the local team through shared skills and day-to-day support. Their contribution works alongside the dependable coaching and administration needed to keep programmes running throughout the year.
