Local community sailing programmes
We will train local instructors and build fleets that support school sailing. Communities can lead and sustain these programmes.

02 / The 2026–2030 plan
Our 2026–2030 plan connects local instructors, school sailing, three community bases and earned income to give more young Bahamians opportunities on the water.
We will train local instructors and build fleets that support school sailing. Communities can lead and sustain these programmes.
We will help young sailors become apprentices and instructors, with routes into maritime work. Training and mentoring will prepare them for paid opportunities.
We aim to use lessons and rentals, alongside visiting camps, to support youth access and local jobs. That income can also help fund equipment and transport.
We will connect young sailors with traditional crews and sloop building, Homecomings and Bahamian regattas.

Our roadmap · 2026–2030
In 2026, South Eleuthera (at CEIS), summer camps and our first instructor course connected beginner sailing with a pathway into paid work.
Repeat instructor training, introduce free school sailing days and add a school from September 2027. Expert coaching supports camps and the launch of North Eleuthera.
Add one school each year. Follow the same cohort, develop local instructors and strengthen community bases and fleets.
Develop six 420s shared across the three bases and introduce inter-school sailing competitions.
Build towards inter-school team racing, three ESA regattas a year, a C-Class sloop and hosting the 2030 Nationals.
