Local programmes

Our first priority is to give more children access to sailing from a young age. We already teach ELC and DCMS students and aim to add one school each year, starting in September 2027.

With coaches and transport, children can learn regularly and grow into our weekend race team at ESA. National and international regattas open new horizons, while sloop sailing connects them with Bahamian tradition.

Begin at school

ELC and DCMS already sail with ESA. We want more schools in North Eleuthera, Rock Sound, Governor’s Harbour and Palmetto Point to share that opportunity. We aim to add one school each year from September 2027.

Grow with the race team

Our team trains at ESA on weekends. Sailors develop the skills and confidence to compete at Nationals and the Sir Durward Knowles championship, as well as international regattas. They also help younger sailors find their feet.

Keep our sailing heritage alive

Sugar Loaf connects young sailors with Bahamian sloop crews and regatta traditions. We want to grow this programme with another E-Class sloop, then a C-Class so more sailors can take part together.

Bring the island together

Our South programme at CEIS is established. We plan to begin in North in 2027. Regional lessons and shared Saturday racing at ESA will connect these communities. Coaches and reliable transport make that possible.

Looking ahead

As regular programmes grow, we hope to build boats with schools and see sloops representing settlements across Eleuthera. These are longer-term ambitions, built on children learning to sail today.
