Race team

Our race team trains on weekends at Savannah Sound. Regular practice turns enthusiasm into skill and gives young sailors a team to grow with.

Train at home. Look beyond the island.

Our weekend sessions develop boat handling and racing technique. Sailors learn to work as a team. Experienced sailors help beginners, learning that responsibility matters as much as a result. We prepare sailors for Nationals and the Sir Durward Knowles National Junior Sailing Championship, as well as international regattas.

Bring the centres together

As North and South develop, we plan two regional lessons a week and shared Saturday practice and racing at ESA, supported by the regional coaches. Continued instructor training and the planned March–August expert-coach placement will help build that wider team. Racing instruction will require further training and experience. Reliable transport will bring sailors and equipment together.

Looking ahead

We aim to run three ESA regattas a year with South, North, Spanish Wells and Harbour Island. Our goals are school competitions by 2029 and team racing in 2030, giving more children a reason to train together. We plan six 420s for 2029, shared across the three centres, and aim to host the 2030 Nationals.
